Can Spinal Stenosis Be Caused By a Herniated Disc?

Published on Nov 16th, 2009 in RSS Feeds with

Spinal Stenosis is a condition where there is a narrowing of the spinal canal or the foramen where the nerve exits the spine. The narrowing can be caused by bony growth or a protruding disc or a combination of both. If the problem is mostly caused from the herniated disc then treatments like spinal decompression can help. Because as the disc is reduced the canal diameter will open. This will allow more freedom of movement for the spinal cord and nerves.
